The best footwear from NYFW and LFW
After New York, London Fashion Week is already coming to an end. The shows have been amazing, with some splendid set ups, gorgeous collections and playful accessories. For all the shoe lovers, let’s have a look at three of our favorite footwear looks from New York and London Fashion Week.
Mismatched sandals at Thom Browne
Thom Browne delighted the fashion pack at New York Fashion Week with an astonishingly colorful show with a fun retro vibe. More than the blue lips and dog-shaped bags, the shoes were the stars of the show: mismatched nautical wedges with whale and anchor-shaped heels were the finishing touch to the « psychedelic fifties » look. These sculptural shoes are the perfect mix of fun and elegance.

Gigantic colorful platforms at Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs’ show was just as colourful and fun-infused as Thom Browne’s, but with a hint of streetwear, and taking most of its inspiration from 80s pop culture. Following from the sky-high platforms he introduced in his A/W 16 last September, Marc had his models walk the runway in gigantic color-block and graphic platform boots and sandals that looked like an hommage to the late David Bowie and his extravagant Ziggy Stardust persona.

Embellished Crocs at Christopher Kane
The Scottish designer surprised everyone at London Fashion Week by having his models walk the runway wearing… Crocs! The shoes fashionistas love to hate are finally having their moment in the sun, and Kane’s version features sparkling rocks and crystals for a luxury feel, and comes in either marble print or deep fall hues like mustard yellow and peacock blue. Unsurprisingly, the collaboration sparked a controversy in the fashion world, re-opening the eternal debate of comfort vs style.
When talking to British Vogue, Christopher Kane said “I always work with unexpected items and combinations, transforming the everyday into desirable luxury. I wanted to bring my own stamp and DNA to Crocs’ classic clog shoe and achieve something really special. (…) Crocs are arguably the most comfortable shoe, I love that they are slightly awkward and might be perceived by some as ‘ugly’. They have a very naïve and childlike shape which I especially like when they look extra clunky on the foot.”[1]
